Both the Altima Sedan and the Camry have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes and available electronic stability systems to prevent skidding.

The engine computer on the Altima Sedan automatically engages the starter until the car starts with one twist of the key and disables the starter while the engine is running. The Camry’s starter can be accidentally engaged while the engine is running, making a grinding noise and possibly damaging the starter and ring gear.

The Altima Sedan’s standard driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the switch, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Camry’s power window’s switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully. The Altima Sedan’s optional front power windows open fully with one touch of the switches, and its driver’s window also automatically closes. With the Camry XLE’s power windows, only the driver’s window opens or closes automatically.

If the front windows are left down on the Altima Sedan (except 2.5 S) the driver can raise them using the key in the outside lock cylinder. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from outside the vehicle using the key in the outside lock cylinder or the keyless remote. The driver of the Camry can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Altima Sedan’s speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Camry’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Altima Sedan (except 2.5 Base) offers optional extendable sun visors. The Camry doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Altima Sedan’s standard power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Camry’s power mirror controls are on the dash, hidden behind the steering wheel, where they are awkward to manipulate.

The Altima Sedan’s available GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that offers alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service available in a limited number of metro areas.) The Camry’s available navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.
