The Nissan Armada has Daytime Running Lights to help keep it more visible under all conditions. Canadian government studies show that driving with lights during the day reduces accidents by 11% by making vehicles more conspicuous. The QX80 doesn’t offer Daytime Running Lights.
Both the Armada and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and around view monitors.
There are almost 7 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Armada’s warranty.
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2016 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Nissan vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Nissan 10th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 2 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is ranked 12th.
To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Nissan Armada uses regular unleaded gasoline. The QX80 requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.
To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Armada has an electronically controlled liquid-filled front engine mount. A computer controlled electric current in the liquid changes its viscosity, allowing the mount to dampen the engine completely at all RPMs. The QX80 uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.
The Armada has 1 inch more front headroom and 2.3 inches more front legroom than the QX80.
According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Armada is less expensive to operate than the QX80 because typical repairs cost much less on the Armada than the QX80, including $9 less for front brake pads, $27 less for a starter, $139 less for front struts and $722 less for a power steering pump.
