Tires and Wheels Comparison

The Armada has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The QX80 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Suspension and Handling Comparison

The Armada Platinum 4x4 handles at .74 G’s, while the QX80 AWD pulls only .72 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The Armada Platinum 4x4 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the QX80 AWD (28 seconds @ .61 average G’s vs. 28.6 seconds @ .57 average G’s).

Chassis Comparison

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the Armada has an electronically controlled liquid-filled front engine mount. Standard NissanConnect Apps for the Armada allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones so they can stay connected without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The QX80 doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.

Economic Advantages Comparison

Insurance will cost less for the Armada owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Armada will cost $175 less than the QX80 over a five-year period.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Armada is less expensive to operate than the QX80 because typical repairs cost much less on the Armada than the QX80, including $9 less for front brake pads, $28 less for a starter, $140 less for front struts and $719 less for a power steering pump.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Nissan Armada will be $14586 to $22376 less than for the Infiniti QX80.
